Port of Portland is a strategic deepwater port in south-west Victoria, serving as an international gateway and key enabler for approximately 5.5 million tonnes of imports and exports each year, valued at approximately $4.5 billion.

Safety leadership in marine operations is non-negotiable. At the Port of Portland, safety is not simply a practice, it is actively led, reinforced, and continuously improved.
As the Harbour Master / Marine Manager, your priority is ensuring that every operation meets the highest standards of safety. You will lead a safety-first culture, where risks are proactively identified and managed, regulatory obligations upheld, while contributing to the Port’s long-term growth and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead with safety as the highest priority, fulfilling legislated Harbour Master duties, ensuring compliance with all marine, safety and environment legislation, regulations and industry best practice.

Lead and manage marine operations including pilotage, towage, vessel scheduling, port security, emergency response and marine asset readiness.

Inspire and lead teams, promoting an inclusive, safety-first culture that values collaboration and continuous safety improvement.

Drive strategic planning for marine infrastructure, capital works, fleet renewal, and technology upgrades.
