The Port of Portland is one of four major commercial ports in Victoria and handles trade worth in excess of $2bn annually with currently circa 50 employees. The port is also one of the most significant businesses in south-west Victoria, situated 350km west of Melbourne.
An exciting opportunity exists within our leadership team for a safety professional. The position is based in the port’s office in Portland.
Reporting to the CEO, the Safety, Health, Security and Environment (SHSE) Manager role demands a strong individual who can deliver a practical and effective occupational health and safety solution for our business.
The SHSE Manager will develop and sustain a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the port itself ensuring a safe working atmosphere for port employees, port users, contractors and customers.
Whilst this is a standalone role, the successful applicant will possess sound leadership attributes, coaching ability and interpersonal skills of a high standard.
The candidate will be expected to hit the ground running. Communication skills (both written and verbal) are paramount as well as a strong knowledge of safety and environmental legislation and practices.
