Port of Portland Hardwood Chip Facilities Development
Traffic, Noise and Air Quality Reports available for Information.
Two new hardwood chip facilities are currently being planned for development at the Port of Portland for the storage and handling of plantation-grown bluegum hardwood chips from the Green Triangle Region.
The first facility is a new facility to be developed by Gunns Limited and the second facility is an expansion of the existing GrainCorp woodchip facility.
The Port of Portland commissioned expert studies on noise, air and traffic in 2008. The studies were commissioned to support a planning scheme amendment which the Victorian Government approved in August 2008 in relation to the operation of any new woodchip facilities at the Port of Portland.
